About RSM
The Ramp School of Ministry (RSM) exists to equip a generation for their God-ordained purpose by sharpening the raw potential inside of them, developing depths of character, integrity, and honor, and introducing them to a burning, passionate way of life. Birthed out of the Ramp in Hamilton, Alabama, RSM began its first semester in August of 2010 with 52 students. One year later, our enrollment has grown by over 300% to 166 students. We believe God is sending us hungry leaders who will become carriers of awakening to their generation.
The Classroom
Many people equate Bible classes with stoic instructors, irrelevant information, and boredom. That is not the case at the Ramp School of Ministry. Our classroom atmosphere is charged with expectancy, intensity, and rigor. We are persuaded that the knowledge of God is unattainable without the presence of God. Every class at RSM is an experience in His real, raw presence; it is in this atmosphere that the Word of God penetrates the hearts of students and brings transformation to their minds. Our students are challenged by dynamic teaching on kingdom principles that will catapult them into a lifetime of pursuing God and releasing the spirit of awakening in every sphere of life and ministry.
RSM is committed to the standard of God’s word and demands the same of it’s students; throughout the course of the year, they will have memorized over 200 scriptures. We believe the Word has power to revolutionize the way we think and live. Our instructors are devoted to raising up a generation who see scripture as the non-negotiable, righteous requirement of God. RSM sends its students out with the necessary equipment become leaders of a great awakening.
“During classes, God began to come with convicting power and work deep within my heart. I truly have become a new person.” -Kaylee, RSM student
The Community
RSM is just one facet of the larger Ramp Community. Every part of this community, from our feeding center, to our drama department, exists for one purpose: awakening. The atmosphere of our community is intense, focused, and passionate; we refuse lukewarm, casual Christianity. Over the last two years, hundreds of individuals and families have left the comfort of their hometowns, businesses, and families, to join themselves to this burning community and radical mission. Members of this body live consecrated lives of sacrifice, are dedicated to prayer and fasting, and are committed to running together for the sake of seeing something historic take place. Under the leadership of Karen Wheaton and her leadership team, the Ramp Community contines to grow exponentially, increasing its local and global impact.
“We have found people to war with us in the things of the Spirit and to run with us in our pursuit to be holy.” -Josh & Amber Shoemaker, RSM students
Student Life
We believe deep, lasting connection is forged and sustained by meaningful kingdom activity. Not only do our students pray together and learn together; we provide them with the oppoortunity to minister together through service. Each first year student will give well over 350 hours to serving. All the information they receive in the classroom is put into practice at the Storehouse, which is a feeding and service center for the needy of Marion County. RSM students spend several hours per week providing food for, witnessing to, and praying with the citizens of our area.
Another outlet for student ministry is Fun Night. Every Tuesday night, students and members of the Ramp community take the gospel of Jesus Christ to the youth of Hamilton. Led by Brian Beasley, the students are given the opportunity to form relationships with the youth of our city, pray with them regarding life issues, and lead them to Christ.
Ramp gatherings, held once a month, present another avenue for RSM students to get involved. Their service in the parking lot, sound booth, registration booth, restrooms, and bookstore, is the backbone of the mission of awakening at the Ramp. Every month, thousands of people are impacted for the kingdom of God because RSM students minister through service.
“Serving has processed me in ways that a sermon never could. I have learned to give it my all when nobody is watching. It is the kingdom way to serve beyond what is expected or asked of you.” -Bethany, RSM student
The Commitment
RSM demands its students to pursue the knowledge of God without wavering in the face of opposition and compromise. RSM students are required to lead lives of total consecration: prayer, Bible reading, fasting, and service are the fundamental requirements and are non-negotioable. An attitude of honor is to be the hallmark of those who attend.
Simply put, the Ramp School of Ministry is dedicated to equipping men and women to become carriers of awakening. We believe the standard is high. We believe the cost is great. We believe you are the answer for your generation.
“I can say with complete confidence that coming to the Ramp School of Ministry was the best decision I have ever made. I am more in love with God than I have ever been, my heart burns to be in His presence, and my personal walk has never been better.” -Ben, RSM student
